Let’s explore Sa’d al-Saltaneh Handicraft Market

The handicraft market of Sa’d al-Saltaneh in Iran’s Qazvin Province is a hidden treasure dating back to the Qajar Era.

The handicraft market of Sa’d al-Saltaneh Cultural and Historical Complex in Iran’s Qazvin Province is a hidden treasure dating back to the Qajar Era.

Located next to the old bazaar of Qazvin, Sa’d al-Saltaneh hosts a number of 170 shops that display and sell various handcrafts including kilim, jajim (a type of traditional floor covering), pottery, copper works and Persian miniatures.

Qazvin is also home to Andaj village in the Alamut region of the province, which is known as the hub of kilim weaving.

Valuable handicrafts are produced by skilled craftspeople living in the Alamut region with several thousand years of history.

Surrounded by rivers and eye-catching rocks, Andaj village is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the area.

The handicrafts produced in the region not only fulfill the daily requirements of its locals but also help introduce the glory and richness of the land which was once the capital of Iran.

Efforts are underway to register the Sa’d al-Saltaneh Handicraft Market on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Achieving the goal not only would lead to the prosperity of the handicrafts sector, but also help attract a large number of Iranian and foreign tourists to the province.
